The last few days here in Rhode Island have been challenging for playing outdoors with the scattered rain and thunder storms. I’m always looking for new ways to entertain the kids during these summer rainy days.
Enter my essential rainy day survival kit – consisting of projects projects projects! We usually start off the day with baking something like cookies, muffins or brownies since my four year old enjoys being involved in the process. Then we move on to a type of craft. I usually keep boxes of crafts, puzzles, clay and paint stashed away out of sight to spark creative juices for indoor playtime. Recently I received the Barbie Dress & Design Studio by Mattel to review, and let me tell you it could not have come at a better time! I was more than happy to let my little Barbie fanatic play with it during the crummy weather.
Barbie Dress & Design Studio comes with a Barbie doll, along with four dresses for your fashionista to design and decorate to her liking using stencils. fabric markers, and holographic stickers.
My little Barbie fan had a ball playing with her Barbie Dress & Design Studio! She created four custom designed dresses for her new Barbie doll complete with high heels and a sparkly necklace. First she used the glittery stickers to make belts and flowers. Then she colored in her own designs using the stencils to create her very own unique dress patterns. Finally, we had a Barbie parade where each dress was featured on her new Barbie doll for a strut across the catwalk (our kitchen table).
There’s nothing more pleasing than hearing my daughter say she’s so tired from playing (indoors)! This is a RARE occurrance 
The fun has continued since, as she is experimenting with other Barbie dolls and princess dolls wearing her custom collection. This toy was a great way to spark her creativity and continue the fun. It is definitely not one of those toys they play with only once!
